eBay Motors Boosts Services for Tire and Vehicle Shoppers

Online marketplace eBay is expanding its platform to offer more services and features that ensure an enhanced buyer experience.  Beginning later this summer in the United States, eBay Motors is adding tire installation services.

In addition, it is partnering with TrueCar to offer buyers more tools when shopping for new vehicles.

“At eBay we’re focused on providing the most convenient shopping experience for our customers,” said Jay Hanson, eBay’s vice president of North America merchandising in hard goods, in a news release from eBay.

“Adding auto services as well as the TrueCar integration showcases our commitment to extending value and insight to buyers around the world.”

Shoppers, for the first time on eBay, may bundle new tire purchases with professional installation in their area.

This new feature allows tires to be shipped to an automotive repair shop near the consumer for installation.

Through its partnership with TrueCar, the eBay Motor’s home page is expected to offer improved search features that allow shoppers to efficiently explore eBay’s selection of new and used vehicles as well as parts and accessories.

Other personalized services offered on the eBay Motors platform include:

provides shoppers with on-site inspections for any vehicle, motorcycle or boat in the U.S. at a discounted rate as low as $69 per inspection.

Assurant Protection Program:
provides extended service contracts on new, used and refurbished automotive parts and accessories.

Vehicle Protection Program:
covers up to $100,000 for vehicle non-delivery, a missing title or major undisclosed defects. Buyers are automatically enrolled in the program at no charge.
The popularity of eBay Motors can be measured in seconds.
For example, three parts are sold every second with an engine or engine component sold every 12 seconds and one wheel or tire part every seven seconds, according to eBay data.
